Mustang - Part 21 - Final

Following the last part, i added windows, body and chassis together.
I consider now this one as done!
Well, i spent 6 months on this model (i know this is slow, but taking time is a good quality for a modeler) and in overall, i find this kit really good for a very nice car.
I have to improve myself on paint jobs but this is good start and i enjoyed building this kit.

Mustang - Part 20 - Clear coat

So, after painting the body with matt paint, i used gloss coat over it... and i don't know what happened, but the result is semi gloss...
I didn't want to redo all of it again, and decided to keep it like that. It's supposed to be a used car, so the paint is not brand new. I have others kits to work on shinny paint.
Then, I put on all the lights and bumpers.

Mustang - Part 19 - Body paint

In the past weeks, i've practised airbrushing on the mustang, and i found that it's not easy to have the good balance between paint/thinner, pressure, and distance.
Anyway, on my first attempts, i have sprayed too many layers over and over. I tried to wetsanding it on 2000, but it was worse at the end.
So i decided to do it again, but this time, only few layers.
Then, i painted the chrome (i plan to try bare metal foil on others models) and added the decals for light turn signals.

Mustang Part 18 - Windshield

Chassis and interior has been put together. I added the radiator and details on the battery. Wheels have been sanded to look like used.

The original windshield is one clear plastic piece for both front and rear windows, with extra piece in between supposed to be on the interior roof. I decided to split it in two pieces and sanded the interior roof to make it flat.

Mustang Part 17 - Body

After few days of holidays away from the bench, i'm back to the hobby.
I applied weathering on the engine, exhausts, gas tank and a very thin dry brush to enhance relief and bring a little ageing. Engine was then put on the chassis.

I finally got my airbrush and started to practice. Result below is done with two sessions of light and multiple thin coats. I need to do at least a couple of others.

Mustang Part 16 - Chassis/Interior

I've finished the dashboard with details on gauges. Interior is now done.

Dry brush on the chassis, then assembling suspension and exhausts.

Engine is done too. Still some black/grey wash to be done.

Mustang Part 15 - Interior

I've made like 3 attempts to paint the hood with the brush... and i must accept the fact that you can't use paintbrush (except you're a master of it) to paint big areas.
My last attempt was not that bad (it was a first layer very thin), but as i begin to have more kits on my stash, i will move on airbrush for those kind of jobs.

So, in the meantime, i have worked on the interior, panel doors (silver lining) and dashboard (decals+red needle). I have not so much details planned to do, gloss on tachometers, small black adjustements here and there, as i want to keep it simple for a first car. Seats, engine and suspension will be next!
