Awing Part 16 - Masking

After a very looooonnnnnnggg time, i came back to the awing. I was not feeling the mood to work on it. I'm not very confortable with the paint part on this kit as i fear i won't be happy with the finish result.
Anyway, I painted the last light white coat and lightly sanding it on the areas where it will be white at the end.

Following step is to apply masking tape for the black red paint areas. It's not a color straight from the paint chart, so i will need to mix together red and black. It will force me to paint all the red areas in one sequence because it will be difficult to have the same mixing doses multiple times.

Mustang Part 10 - Various parts

Painting various parts in black :

Filling the pastille molds on the chassis.

Assembling the motors with chrome parts and fixing exhausts :

Beginning to work on the wheels :

While i was trying to see how seats are fitting with the interior, i saw that the original position of the seat would have not be correct. It needed to be put back a little.

Mustang Part 9 - Chassis & Exhaust pipes

Remembering the picture from part 6, there are some inscriptions on the chassis "Revell 2008 - China...", i removed it successfully. Now it's clean and not visible anymore.

I filled the holes on the floor of the interior where the seats supposed to be located.

I added a plastic piece to the exhausts pipes to make it more realistic. It's not that much of work but really look better.

Mustang Part 8 - Interior

Still working on suspensions and exhaust pipes to make it clean, in some areas putty have to be applied.

It's surprising to see that, if you look at the car from below, you can see that the exhaust chamber piece is not complete. Strange that it was molded that way, i need to scratchbuilt a piece.

Wheels are OK, need to clean it up a little and paint.

Assembling the interior, dashboard, left and right panels to see how it match.

We can see that additional work to be done here :

Mustang Part 7 - Chassis

In the past days, i'm on all different parts of the kit. Some people like to stay focus on each sub assembly once at a time, but here i'm working on the chassis and interior at the same time. I'm leaving of the body paint for later.
First off, putty have to be applied for all the holes on the transmission channel, why the model have been designed like this ???

I've been cleaning a lot of part, removing the mold lines, exhauts, radiator and so on. There are a lot of flash on these parts. It's not something clearly visible, but much better without it at the end.

Also working on the rear transmission for the suspension.

Just a rant about Revell, what the hell did they not provide the minimum details about the painting scheme of the chassis ??? Here it's just semi gloss black for everything, is it a joke ??? There are others models like the GT350H where the painting guide is much detailed. Come on...

Mustang Part 6 - Seats

I'm working on the engine and interiors in parallel now.
I apply gloss coat on white parts (it's true that the humbrol gloss is turning to be a little yellow, i doesn't mind for the moment).

Preparing the back seats :

Some semi gloss black paint on seats, front grid...

Prepping the transmission and chassis. What kind of idea did revell had to put references and so on the chassis at the transmission place where it will be visible !!!!
